Specialized care for major joints, bursa, sacroiliac, and intercostal joints. Targets knots in muscle tissue that cause localized or referred pain, providing rapid relief and improved function.
Trigger points are tight knots of muscle fiber that form when muscles fail to relax properly. These hyperirritable spots can cause localized pain at the site and referred pain in distant areas of the body — for example, a trigger point in the shoulder can cause headaches or arm pain.
A trigger point injection delivers a small amount of anesthetic, sometimes combined with a corticosteroid, directly into the trigger point. This inactivates the knot, relieves the associated pain, and allows the muscle to relax and heal. The procedure takes only a few minutes and can provide rapid, often immediate relief.
Dr. Bhakta also uses trigger point injection techniques for major joints, bursa (fluid-filled cushions near joints), sacroiliac joints, and intercostal spaces (between the ribs).
